Johannesburg - Eskom was granted a 13.3% increase by the National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) on Wednesday.

This is in addition to the 14.2% increase already granted in December.

The decision by the Nersa sub-committee came after Eskom requested a 53% tariff increase at public hearings last month.

Nersa's six-member sub-committee had to take into account more than 40 oral and 300 written submissions it had received at the hearings before making a decision.
