Shaik: Ngcuka won't comment

Johannesburg - Former head of the national prosecuting authority, Bulelani Ngcuka, will not comment on the guilty verdict against Durban businessman Schabir Shaik, his spokesperson said on Thursday.
"Mr Ngcuka has got nothing to say about the verdict," Sipho Ngwema told Sapa.
Ngcuka, now the chair of empowerment company Amabubesi Investments, was the head of the NPA when Shaik was charged with fraud and corruption in August 2003.
At the time Ngcuka said that although the NPA had prima facie evidence against deputy president Jacob Zuma, he would not be prosecuted as it would be impossible to win the case.
Shortly after Ngcuka made the comments a story was leaked by journalist Ranjeni Munusamy, who is now Shaik's public relations officer, to the City Press newspaper alleging that Ngcuka had been a spy for the apartheid government.
President Thabo Mbeki established a commission under Judge Joos Hefer to investigate the charges and Ngcuka was cleared of the spy allegation.
Ngcuka resigned from the NPA in July 2004.
