Zuma supporters 'will behave'

Durban - The KwaZulu-Natal leadership of the African National Congress said support for Jacob Zuma during the night vigil on Tuesday and Wednesday would be "disciplined".
Provincial secretary-general Senzo Mchunu said the leadership had been happy with the way Zuma fans behaved during the three days of testimony at Zuma's court appearance earlier this month.
"No property was damaged," Mchunu said. "Nobody was hurt and by and large we were very happy with the behaviour."
Thousands of Zuma supporters from across the province were expected to converge on Pietermaritzburg's Freedom Square on Tuesday night for a night vigil before the court case resumes.
On Wednesday Judge Herbert Msimang is expected to hand down judgment on the State's application for a postponement of Zuma's corruption trial.
Speaking at a media conference in Durban on Tuesday morning Mchunu said much of the top leadership of the ANC Youth League, the SA Communist Party and the ANC would be in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.
He said the KZN leadership of the ANC had held meetings with police over security arrangements during the trial.
On Monday Police spokesperson Director Bala Naidoo said the police would be in control irrespective of Msimang's ruling.
Asked what he expected to happen if the State was granted a postponement, Mchunu said: "Our objective is to support Zuma. Matters of judgment we will leave to the court."
He said that contrary to local media reports, there were no plans to stage a march through Pietermaritzburg.
He said Zuma supporters would be confined to the fenced off areas in and around the city's Freedom Square outside the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
