Pietermaritzburg - Nearly 100 Jacob Zuma supporters braved the early morning damp by dancing and singing next to a truck that had been set up with large speakers outside the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Wednesday morning.
The former deputy president, appearing on corruption charges, will find out later in the day whether his case will be postponed or not.
Many passing by on their way to work stopped to observe the festivities.
"I'm on my way to work, I just stopped to see what was happening," said Mbongiseni Zuma from Swamo outside Pietermaritzburg.
Barricades were up outside the court and there was a large contingent of police, including the Port Shepstone public order policing unit.
The presidential protection unit was also present early in the morning.
Large crowds were expected to fill the Freedom Square outside the court later in the day.
Zuma is accused of accepting a R500 000 a year bribe from the two Thint companies - subsidiaries of the French arms manufacturer Thales International. The two Thint companies are co-accused in the case.
