Warne may play for World XI

Melbourne - Cricket Australia has rescheduled a round of its domestic competition and given permission for players like Shane Warne and Michael Bevan to participate in a series between New Zealand and an invitational XI.
Sri Lanka abandoned its New Zealand tour after one game last month so its players could return home following the December 26 tsunami that devastated southern Asia.
As an alternative, New Zealand cricket authorities are trying to organise a three-match, limited-overs series between the Black Caps and a selection of international players who're not on national duties.
In a statement on Sunday, Cricket Australia said it had altered its season programme by a day later this month "to allow six Australian players to participate in three promotional games being staged in New Zealand because of the early departure of Sri Lanka".
Cricket Australia has approved that Matthew Elliott, Ian Harvey, Warne, Andy Bichel, Justin Langer and Bevan be able to accept invitations to take part in the New Zealand tournament, the statement said.
All six have represented Australia but weren't selected in the 14-man national squad for the upcoming limited-overs tri-series against the West Indies and Pakistan.
"Rescheduling the January 27-30 round to January 28-31 will allow Australian players being sought for New Zealand games on January 22, 24 and 26 to take part in those games," he said.
