Lloyd runs for vice-president

Bridgetown, Barbados - Former West Indies cricket captain Clive Lloyd has been nominated for the post of vice-president of the West Indies Cricket Board.
Lloyd will face incumbent vice-president Val Banks in the Aug 6 election during the WICB's annual general meeting in St Maarten.
The board announced late on Saturday that Lloyd had been nominated for the post by Guyana, his native state.
Lloyd, who led the West Indies cricket team from 1974 to 1985, is the only captain to win the World Cup twice (1975 and 1979). During his tenure, the West Indies were considered the dominant force in cricket, and he is one of the most successful captains in the sport's history.
Lloyd, 60, was until recently a match referee with the International Cricket Council and lives in Britain.
He had considered running for the presidency of the WICB, and Guyana had previously nominated him for the post.
His move for the vice-presidency means Ken Gordon is the only candidate for the post of president.
