Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa and its technical sponsor, hummel, have completed the development of the Proteas jersey which will be worn at the Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.
According to a CSA media release, the light-weight shirt, which is made from 100% moisture management polyester fabric, enables maximum movement and optimal transportation of perspiration to keep the body dry and cool using maximum ventilation zones.
In comparison to the traditional ODI jersey, this specially developed Proteas kit for the Caribbean, which has also been approved by the International Cricket Council, is made from 20% lighter fabric while the pants are made from 25% lighter fabric.
A special printing method was used for player names and numbers on the jersey, reducing the ink by 50%, which also improves the feel and comfort for players.
Henrik Lauritzen, marketing director for hummel Africa, said: "In creating the jersey, we used the hummel Temperature Control System resulting in a quick dry and high comfort garment.
"The jersey also has raglan sleeve construction for better and more sufficient move.
"As a result of special treatment used on the garment, the build-up of static charges is at a minimum reducing the clinging effect".
