Adelaide - Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist on Saturday announced his retirement from the game at the end of the Australian summer.
Gilchrist said he would retire from Tests at the end of the current match against India and will hang up his gloves in one-day internationals after the upcoming tri-series with Sri Lanka and India.
"It is with great pride and happiness that I make the decision to retire from Tests and one-day internationals," he said in a statement.
"I've come to the decision after much thought and discussion with those most important to me."
His announcement comes a day after he broke the world record for the most wicketkeeping dismissals in Test cricket with 414,
Gilchrist made his international debut in 1996 when he played the first of his 277 one-day internationals.
He made his Test debut in 1999 and has played 96 Tests, scoring 17 centuries.
