29/02/2008 13:30 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa has appointed Kass Naidoo as its new Commercial Manager, following the departure of Steve Elworthy in January to take up the role of Tournament Director of the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 Competition with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Naidoo made history in October 2005 by becoming South Africa's first female cricket commentator, and is also the founder of the women in sport initiative, gsport... for Girls!, which aims to raise the profile of South Africa's women in sport.
In announcing her appointment on Wednesday, CSA CEO Gerald Majola said: "We're very pleased to welcome Kass Naidoo to CSA as our Commercial Manager. She has an extensive background in the world of communication and commerce and she will be bringing experience in these two important fields for the benefit of South African cricket.
"Kass Naidoo has also built up a strong following from the public and she will add much value to our drive to grow cricket even further."
Naidoo said: "It has been a life-long pursuit of mine to help to bring cricket to all South Africans, and following a wonderful stint in the television broadcast of the game, I am now delighted to be given this opportunity to contribute to growing the business of Cricket South Africa."
Naidoo, who assumes her new role with CSA on the March 3, is also a former Sport24 columnist.
