Cape Town - Proteas cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has been arrested for alleged drunken driving in Cape Town.

Gibbs was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning and is being held at Sea Point police station.

Sea Point police have confirmed that Gibbs is being held at the station. He is expected to appear in court soon on a drunken driving charge.

A press statement will be released later on Friday.
