Tendulkar to miss 2nd Test

Chennai - Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar will miss the second Test match against South Africa.
"Because of the groin injury suffered by Tendulkar during the first Test match, the selectors have decided to replace him with Mohammad Kaif in the squad," Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah said.
Tendulkar strained his right groin while fielding on Saturday during South Africa's second innings in the series opener that ended Sunday in a tame draw.
The second Test starts on Thursday in the western city of Ahmadabad.
Tendulkar, who needs 172 runs to become the highest run-scorer in Test cricket history, failed to get off the mark during his only innings in the first Test match.
The 34-year-old Indian has amassed 11 782 runs in 146 Tests, and is second behind former West Indian skipper Brian Lara's 11 953 from 133 matches.
Tendulkar did not come out to field on the final day of the Test match and skipper Anil Kumble told reporters that Tendulkar had aggravated the groin strain he picked up during the recent tour of Australia.
Kumble initially said he was hopeful of Tendulkar regaining fitness to play in the second Test, but the cricket board decided to replace him in the 14-member squad with Kaif, who played his last Test match nearly two years ago against the West Indies.
On return from the tour of Australia, the Indian team's former physiotherapist, John Gloster, said Tendulkar needed to rest for three weeks.
