Johannesburg - Reports that South Africa's top strike bowler, Dale Steyn, is moving to Cape Town, have caught everyone in the Titans cricket franchise by surprise.
Chief executive Elise Lombard says Titans coach Richard Pybus spoke to Steyn while the Proteas were in India and received the assurance that he would be available for the Titans next season.
However, it was reported on Sunday that Steyn would play for the Cobras next season, allegedly after being hit by one of Cupid's arrows. The girl lives in Cape Town.
All the players who hold Cricket SA contracts must indicate before the end of May for which franchise they will be playing next season.
Lombard says the Titans are not losing any of their nationally contracted players. Steyn, André Nel, AB de Villiers, Paul Harris and Morné Morkel will all be available for the team next season.
Lions batsman Blake Snijman and Eastern Cape fast bowler Basheer Walters are also joining the Titans squad.
