  • Mohali - Michael Hussey's unbeaten century earned the Chennai Super Kings a 33 run win in their IPL match against the Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Saturday.

Australian star Hussey clipped his 116 not out off 54 balls and hit seven fours and 10 sixes to boost the visitors to a towering total of 240 for five.

The Punjabis replied with a plucky 207 for four in which Queenslander James Hopes top-scored with 71.

The Super Kings slipped to 62 for three in the eighth over before Hussey and Suresh Raina (32) added 66 for the fourth wicket.

Subramaniam Badrinath (31 not out) helped Hussey put on 73 for the unbroken sixth wicket.

Hussey went to his century in the 19th over with a single off compatriot Brett Lee. Hussey smashed Lee's next delivery over square leg for six.

Hopes and Karan Goel (24) shared 56 for the Kings XI's first wicket, and Hopes stayed on to add 55 for the second wicket with Kumar Sangakkara (54).

But the runs dried up after Palani Amarnath had Hopes caught at long-off in the 11th over, and the Kings XI went into the last over needing 43 runs to win.

    Kings XI Punjab:

Karan Goel, James Hopes, Kumar Sangakkara, Yuvraj Singh (captain), Simon Katich, Pankaj Dharmani, Irfan Pathan, Brett Lee, Piyush Chawla, Wilkin Mota, Shantakumran Sreesanth
