Titans score massive total
25/04/2008 19:54  - (SA)

  • Scoreboard: Dolphins v Titans
  • Titans win toss, bat first
  • Steyn sticks with Titans
  • Durban - The Titans took aim at the Pro20 title when they totaled 153 for six in the final against the Dolphins in Durban on Friday.

That is the highest score made in the competition at Kingsmead this season, and the home side could be hard-pressed to chase the target against a classy attack that includes Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel.

The Titans' total was kick-started by a third-wicket stand of 60 off 37 balls that was shared by opener Gulam Bodi (45) and AB de Villiers (46).

The Dolphins struck back by dismissing Bodi and De Villiers 10 balls apart. A sweeping Bodi was trapped in front by Morne van Vuuren in the 15th over before Jon Kent had De Villiers caught in the deep.

The Titans might have lost their way from their, but Albie Morkel steered them to their challenging total with an unbeaten 33 that he blasted off 17 balls with two fours and two sixes.

The brothers Morkel added a handy 30 for the unbroken seventh wicket, of which Morne scored seven not out.

Yusuf Abdullah bowled his four tidy overs unchanged with the new ball and took one for eight.
