Resounding win for King's XI

Bangalore - King's XI Punjab completed a resounding, six-wicket win over the Bangalore Royal Challengers after disciplined bowling had reduced the home side to a miserable 126 all out in their IPL match at the MA Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday.
Chasing a feeble target on a sporty but not difficult pitch the visitors were set on course by innings of 39 and 31 from overseas stars Shaun Marsh and Ramnaresh Sarwan before being guided home by Mahela Jayawardene and Irfan Pathan who both finished unbeaten on 17 to seal victory at 127-4 with ten balls to spare.
Earlier Bangalore skipper Rahul Dravid top scored with 66 from 51 balls with nine fours and a six to keep his floundering team afloat on a pitch offering seam movement to the quicker bowlers.
Poor batting contributed to the Challengers' demise and, even worse, two awful and needless run outs including that of Jacques Kallis for a three-ball duck, put the Challengers firmly on the back foot.
The only other double figure score came from Indian Under-21 captain Virat Kohli who opened the innings and made a sluggish 34 from 36 balls.
Indian new ball star Sreesanth and leg spinner Piyush Chawla were the pick of the Punjab bowling attack with 2-16 and 3-25 respectively from their four overs.
The win was the King's XI's fifth in succession confirming them as one of the favourites for the title while the much vaunted Bangalore franchise are now rooted to the foot of the log and seemingly destined for an ignominious early exit in the inaugural year.
