Jayasuriya blasts 11x6 and 9x4

Mumbai - Sanath Jayasuriya powered the Mumbai Indians to a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over the Chennai SuperKings with an extraordinary early onslaught and a magnificent undefeated 114 off 48 balls, with nine fours and eleven sixes
The Chennai SuperKings scored 156/6 in their 20 overs.
The Indians finished with 158/1 in 13.5 overs.
Jayasuriya completed his first T20-century off only 45 balls. He was magnificent and humiliated an out-of-sorts-attack.
Initially, there was a feeling that MS Dhoni (43*, 35 balls, 6x4, 1x6) and Subramaniam Badrinath (53, 34 balls, 7x4, 2x6) had catapulted the Kings to a competitive total with their 95-run partnership for the fifth wicket off only 57 balls.
That prediction proved presumptuous as Jayasuriya completely dominated a 82-run partnership for the first wicket with Sachin Tendulkar, who perished for 12 in the eighth over.
Jayasuriya and Tendulkar added 78 runs in the first six overs, the biggest total yet in the power plays during the 36 matches of the IPL competiton. Jayasuriya blasted seven sixes in this period, and smashed 21 runs in an over off the hapless Albie Morkel.
Robin Uthappa, with 16 off 19 balls, was with Jayasuriya at the end.
Earlier, the Chennai Super Kings produced a fine rearguard-action to score 67 runs in the last five overs as Dhoni, Badrinath and (briefly) Morkel threw their bats at everything.
That proved too little against the rainmaker, Jayasuriya, who let it rain sixes to all parts of the ground.
