London - Scotland's Colin Montgomerie has withdrawn from this week's BMW International in Munich after falling ill, his manager said.

The Ryder Cup star felt sick after flying home from last week's US Open at Oakmont where he failed to make the cut.

"He was sick overnight on Tuesday and all day on Wednesday," his manager Guy Kinnings said.

Montgomerie is mired in a slump in form and is without a regular caddie having fired long-time associate Alastair McLean following his missed cut in the Austrian Open.

His place at the European PGA Tour event in Munich has gone to England's Shaun Webster.
