Frost sets pace in BMW Open
22/06/2007 15:55 - (SA)
Munich - David Frost has set the early BMW International Open second round target before bad weather again held up play at Eichenried.
A two-under 70 took the 47-year-old to seven-under 137 and a
one-shot clubhouse lead over Britons Tom Whitehouse and David
Griffiths and Dutchman Maarten Lafeber.
Frost, a multiple winner on the PGA Tour, is playing this
season on the European Tour on invitations, hoping to make a
card for next year, his final warm-up for the seniors tour.
Three top-10s to date, including tied second in the Madeira
Island Open, have taken the South African to 77th on the
European money list and well in sight of his goal of playing
rights for next season.
For the time being, though, Frost is just enjoying his
return to Europe where he fashioned his career before moving to
the US
"I have my goals but it's nice playing with new guys every
week," said Frost, who is taking part in his 10th European Tour
event of the season.
"You have to stay switched on but I want to talk to guys,
get to know about them and their families."
While Frost holds the clubhouse lead, Swede Peter Hanson was
lying nine-under with four holes still to come when lightning
activity suspended play, about the same juncture as the previous day.
Britain's Nick Dougherty, seventh in last week's US Open,
is seven-under with three holes to play, a shot better than
fellow-Englishman Paul Casey, 10th at Oakmont, who is on his
penultimate hole.
