LAWN BOWLS

Melbourne - The Commonwealth lawn bowls competition is to all intents and purposes a world championships in the sport and is highly prized among the bowling fraternity.
Among the men, 31 out of the top 32 are from Commonwealth nations and it is a similar story for the women.
Four years ago in Manchester Australian bowlers came away empty-handed as the golds went to England (men's and women's fours), Scotland (men's pairs), New Zealand (women's pairs), Malaysia (women's singles) and South Africa (men's singles)
But with home-green advantage they are confident of a better showing this time and have selected a good-looking mix of youth and experience.
Six golds are one again up for grabs but this time the fours have been replaced by triples.
