Cape Town - Corrie Sanders is preparing to return to action in November when he may fight one of the Klitschko brothers in Germany in a big-money bout.
The South African heavyweight, who will be 39 on January 7, told Superboxing on Wednesday he was in training and there was a strong possibility that he would meet either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko.
The fight depended on the purse offered, said Sanders, a former WBO champion who knocked out Wladimir but lost to Vitali.
Sanders said he would not have a warm-up fight and the only reason he would continue fighting was the money to be earned.
His manager, Vernon Smith, is awaiting a fax from promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl setting out terms and conditions. Smith may leave for Hamburg this weekend to conclude the deal.
Sanders, 39-3 (29), won the WBO belt when he scored a sensational knockout over Wladimir Klitschko in March last year. He relinquished the belt rather than fight challenger Lamon Brewster for what he considered was a small purse.
He subsequently fought Vitali for the WBC belt vacated by Lennox Lewis. Despite not being in top condition, he put up a creditable performance before being stopped in the eighth round.
Smith has said that Sanders had back and hand injuries and was unable to train properly for the fight against Vitali Klitschko. The injuries have healed and Sanders is ready to go into action again. - www.supersport.co.za
