Manheim - Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone wants a swift future solution for the German Grand Prix on the financially troubled Hockenheimring, the local Mannheimer Morgen daily reported on Thursday.

"I have so far reached no agreement with our friends from Hockenheim, but there will be one soon," Ecclestone was quoted as saying.

The report said that a meeting has been set for late January in London.

The Hockenheim company has amassed debts of 29m euros ($35m) which endanger the race from 2007 onwards.

Ecclestone said he favoured a cost-cutting option in which Hockenheim and another German track, Nurburgring (which currently hosts the European Grand Prix), take turns in hosting the German GP in the future.

"I have made this recommendation on several times," the report quoted Ecclestone as saying.
