Brussels - Justine Henin-Hardenne is back in training after the injuries that forced her to abandon during the Australia Open final against Amelie Mauresmo last month.
The Belgian former world No 1 said that she had been suffering from a shoulder injury and stomach inflammation brought on by taking drugs to combat the pain in her shoulder.
"It was really tough to have finished like that," Henin-Hardenne said on her own website.
"I have tendinitis in a shoulder and I have never had such stomach pain as that. But if I hadn't taken the anti-inflammatories I would never have made it so far in the tournament."
Ranked fifth in the world, Henin-Hardenne said that she was back in training and had started hitting balls again on Monday.
"I am still not 100% but I should get back to full fitness quite rapidly.
She aims to play in the Dubai WTA tournament starting on February 20.
