Tennis legend bitten by dog
11/06/2007 15:51 - (SA)
London - Former Wimbledon legend Bjorn Borg will need to take it easy for up to a month or more after being bitten by a German shepherd dog at his home in Sweden.
As a result, the 51-year-old will be unable to play former Australian star Pat Cash in a grass exhibition this Friday in Liverpool.
Organisers of the event broke the news which will prevent the former idol from playing on grass for the first time since his Wimbledon victory in 1981.
Doctors who treated the bite from a dog identified as Wolf told Borg not to put any weight or stress on the leg for several weeks.
The Swede has been replaced in the draw of the senior outing by another former Wimbledon winner in Richard Krajicek.
"I'm so disappointed that I cannot play," said Borg. "I've been really looking forward to this event and have been practising hard for four months to get ready." - Sapa-dpa
