Laila Ali's knockout wedding
23/07/2007 22:12 - (SA)
Los Angeles - Boxing legend Muhammad Ali attended the wedding of his daughter Laila, a champion fighter in her own right, to former American football player Curtis Conway here on Sunday, People magazine reported.
The elder Ali, who at 65 is likely the best known athlete in the world, was banished from boxing 40 years ago for refusing induction into the US Army to fight in Vietnam and became a legend for humanitarian work after retiring.
His daughter Laila, 24-0 with 21 knockouts, is considered the world's top female boxer and was nothing less than a knockout before 200 guests on her wedding day in a champagne-coloured silk strapless gown, People reported.
Conway, 36, married Ali, 29, two years after they met at a party in his home. Conway proposed last November.
Conway was a National Football League receiver who played 12 seasons with Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco and the New York Jets.
