Pistorius decision delayed
11/01/2008 16:46 - (SA)
London - A decision on whether South
African double amputee Oscar Pistorius can compete against
able-bodied runners at the Beijing Olympics with carbon fibre
blades attached to his legs has been delayed until Monday.
International Association of Athletics Federations spokesperson Nick Davies said on Friday the world governing body
would make an announcement on Monday morning.
An announcement had already been postponed from Thursday
until Saturday morning.
The decision follows a study, carried out by Professor Peter
Bruggeman at the German Sport University in Cologne, which
compared Pistorius with five able-bodied athletes of similar
ability.
Pistorius, 21, won a gold and bronze at the 2004 Athens
Paralympics.
