Pistorius breaks own SA record

Stellenbosch - Oscar Pistorius has improved on his own South African record in the U23 200m at a meeting in Stellenbosch.
Pistorius, who is preparing for the Paralympics in Beijing was clocked at 22.55sec breaking his own South African record of 25.80. The world record stands at 21.70 and according to his coach Ampie Louw, Pistorius is hoping to break three world records in the build up to Beijing. He will run in the 100m on Wednesday.
Western Province's Arnu Fourie (24.66) snatched gold from Free State's Juilius Lesenyeho (28.19) in the men's senior 200m for amputees.
Paralympic athlete Hilton Langenhoven (visually impaired) from Western Province produced a time of 22.81, only 0.51sec off the SA record of 22.30.
Second place went to Namibia's Joachim Bohitile (25.78) and third went to KwaZulu Natal's Siyabonga Mthembu (25.79).
Other athletes who produced excellent results were Ilse Hayes (visually impaired) who broke the SA record in the 200m track for senior women in a time of 26.12, breaking the previous record of 27.30. Tebogo Mokgalagadi (cerebal palsy) won gold for the 200m senior men in a time of 27.89 missing the previous record of 26.80.
