Billabong Pro J-Bay heats up

Jeffreys Bay - Round 3 of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay commenced at 7:15 this morning in one to 1.5 metre waves that are expected to grow in size all day.

Contest officials are endeavoring to run all 16 heats of Round 3 and the first four heats of the quarter-finals today. Should they accomplish that feat, only 11 heats will remain before a Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay Champion is crowned.

The first four heats of the day went to Bede Durbidge (AUS), Roy Powers (HAW), Kai Otton (AUS) and current World No. 2 Joel Parkinson (AUS). Durbidge will be up against Powers in the first heat of Round 4 later today with Otton taking on Parkinson.

South African interest starts in heat 8 of Round 3 where Travis Logie (Durban) faces 8X ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA). Royden Bryson (East London) is pitted against defending Billabong Pro champion Taj Burrow (AUS) in heat 13 this afternoon followed by Jordy Smith (Durban) v Dean Morrison (AUS) in heat 14.
