Pretoria - The reigning Currie Cup champions, the Blue Bulls, will start their preparations for the Currie Cup season with a two match tour to Namibia later this month.
Sport promoter, Willem Strauss confirmed that the Blue Bulls have accepted an invitation from the Namibia Rugby Union to undertake a tour of that country and will play against Namibia "A" in Walvis Bay on June 15 and finish the tour with a match against a Namibia Invitation XV in Windhoek on June 18.
According to Bulls CEO, Stephan Pretorius, the tour offers an ideal opportunity to try new combinations and to prepare the team, who will be without their Springboks for much of the season, to defend their Currie Cup title for the forth successive season.
According to Strauss the tour will be an injection for rugby in Namibia and great exposure for players and other stakeholders involved with Namibian rugby.
Strauss also said that it was a great brand development opportunity for the Blue Bulls who have a huge support base in Namibia.
Strauss also arranged the Blue Bulls pre-Currie Cup tour to Georgia last year which turned out to be such a big success that there is even a Blue Bulls rugby club playing in the Georgian rugby leagues in Tbilisi.
