Bulls and new coach part ways
22/01/2008 19:18 - (SA)
Johannesburg - The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd and their new backline coach Nico le Roux on Tuesday announced in a joint statement that their contract has been terminated after mutual agreement between the two parties.
The former All Black technical advisor was appointed by the Bulls at the beginning of January.
It was learnt that some senior Bulls players voiced their concern that Le Roux was not involved enough during training and that his coaching style did not add to their training sessions and game style.
The joint statement says that the two parties had reached an agreement to cancel the contract between them.
They parted amicably after le Roux and the Blue Bulls Company agreed that the timing of his appointment and the expectations of both parties could not be realised.
Both parties therefore decided that the contract should be cancelled sooner rather than later.
Le Roux, a former Academy manager of the Golden Lions as well as Laurie Mains' video analyst at that union, worked with the All Blacks in 2001, the junior All Blacks in 2005 and was the Chiefs' technical advisor in the Super 12 from 2001 - 2005.
In 2007 he was the Blues' performance analyst and he worked as Waikato's technical advisor in the NPC between 2002 and 2004.
During his time as technical advisor and skills coach for North Harbour they won the Ranfurly Shield for the first time.
The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd will start immediately to identify a replacement for Le Roux. Former Springbok World Cup centre Ricardo Loubscher, who last year assisted Heyneke Meyer with the backs after the departure of Australian Todd Louden, is probably in pole position for the job.
