Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Jake White is not in the running to coach the British and Irish Lions on their 2009 rugby tour of South Africa.
White's agent, Craig Livingstone, said on Tuesday it was highly unlikely that the 2007 World Cup-winning coach would be among the candidates to coach the Lions.
Livingstone said White had not been approached at all and was also not a candidate to coach the Irish national team.
The name of the Lions coach is expected to be announced next week.
SA Rugby Union president Oregan Hoskins will announce the names of the players in a Springbok squad of 45 on May 17.
The composition of new Springbok coach Peter de Villiers's management team will be announced on Friday.
It is common knowledge that Western Province Currie Cup coach Gary Gold will be one of the assistant coaches.
Sharks coach Dick Muir is likely to be appointed as coach of the Springbok team's backline and former assistant Springbok coach Allister Coetzee could succeed Gold as WP coach.
SA Rugby also announced on Tuesday that 11 players had signed one-year Springbok contracts earlier this year.
They are Bakkies Botha, Bryan Habana and Pierre Spies of the Blue Bulls, Schalk Burger and Jean de Villiers (WP), Jaque Fourie (Lions), Ruan Pienaar, Francois Steyn and JP Pietersen (Sharks) and Juan Smith and CJ van der Linde (Cheetahs).
