McDermott also quits Newcastle
08/09/2008 15:52 - (SA)
Newcastle, England - Terry McDermott left his post as assistant manager of Newcastle on Monday, four days after manager Kevin Keegan quit.
McDermott, a former Newcastle player who was also assistant to Keegan in his first spell as Magpies manager in the 1990s, had been taking charge of training for the past week.
But he and reserve team coach Adam Sadler have both now left the club.
Newcastle is embroiled in a public argument with Keegan over whether the club had imposed a management structure upon him without his agreement.
Keegan is reportedly set to pursue a claim for constructive dismissal over the imposition on him of director of football Dennis Wise, while Newcastle has said Keegan was always aware that he did not have control over transfer policy.
