Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are expected to appear
before the PSL disciplinary committee on charges of spectator misbehaviour.
This follows incidents of missile-throwing at the league match between the two teams, won 2-1 by Pirates last Saturday. Fans from both sides
threw missiles on to the pitch in protest at decisions by referee Daniel Bennett.
"In terms of the rules, we have notified the teams of the charge and they are
expected to come back to us within 48 hours. We will decide when they will appear
before the DC," PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said on Tuesday.
Majavu warned that they viewed incidents of violence at league matches in a serious light and would take
strong action to ensure it did not happen again.
Majavu explained that although it was a Pirates home match, both teams have
been charged because their respective supporters were involved.
