16/09/2005 17:30 - (SA)
London - Britain's Prince William is to become president of the Football Association - the governing body for the sport in England.
The second in line to the throne will take over the role from his uncle, the Duke of York, in May next year - just in time for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, said Clarence House, the offices of Prince Charles, William's father.
Until then the 23-year-old, an avid Aston Villa fan, will act as president-designate.
