Liverpool - A photographer who alleged he was assaulted by Paul Gascoigne dropped all charges against the former England soccer star on Friday.
Gascoigne was arrested late on Monday night after allegedly punching photographer Steve Farrell outside a Liverpool hotel.
The incident came just hours after the 38-year-old Gascoigne was fired as manager of semipro club Kettering for allegedly drinking on the job.
Gascoigne was questioned for 14 hours before being released on bail Tuesday pending further investigation.
"Having thought about this, I have decided to drop charges," Farrell said on Friday. "Paul Gascoigne has enough problems to cope with in his life at the moment. I'm a big football fan myself and admire Paul Gascoigne from his playing days.
"I think it's very sad that he now finds himself in this situation. I hope he will be able to turn it around and sort himself out."
