Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns caretaker coach Neil Tovey is determined to make the most of his opportunity.

Tovey and assistant coach Miguel Gamondi were placed in charge after head coach Angel Cappa resigned last week with six months remaining on his contract.

The new coaching set up was like a breath of fresh air. The Brazilians clawed Black Leopards 5-1 in a Premiership clash at HM Pitje Stadium at the weekend to equal their best win of the season. Downs had beaten Bush Bucks by the same margin earlier.

Said Tovey: "I enjoy working with the players again. I love this job and hope to make the most of this chance."

    Motivation is the key

Tovey said one of his biggest strengths is motivation.

"Motivation starts on the training pitch. That is where I start to work on the players. Come match day they are geared up and ready. We saw that on Saturday against Leopards."

Tovey and his men face a tough match against unpredicatable Dynamos in Giyani on Wednesday at 20:00.

"After Swallows beat Pirates 3-1 at the weekend, the league race has opened up. We are only a point behind leaders Pirates and have everything to play for. Dynamos will be tough but this is a must win game for us," said Tovey.

Tovey said while the 5-1 win over Leopards was a good morale booster, he stressed the season still had a long way to go: "It is too early to make predictions."
