Sundowns thrash Dynamos

2005-12-22 07:28

Giyani - Red cards and penalties punctuated a night of drama as Sundowns scored a resounding 4-0 victory over a hapless Dynamos in a Premier Soccer League match at the Giyani Stadium on Wednesday night.

The visitors scored two goals in each half.

The win gave them 37 points and ensured Sundowns will go into the end-of-the-year recess at the top of the log, one point ahead of Orlando Pirates.

Sundowns Venezuelan striker Jose Torealba opened the scoring in the seventh minute, beating Sanudi Sadwick at the left corner.

But the busiest man on the field was referee Charles Theron who had to be at his best to keep the game from going out of control.

In the 21st minute Theron gave Sundowns fullback Oscar Ntwagae his marching orders for a vicious tackle and then 16 minutes later he again had an influence on the game when he awarded Sundowns a penalty, which Zimbabwean international Peter Ndlovu easily converted.

Vociferous Dynamos coach Lifa Qhosha was the next person to fall foul of Theron and he was banished from the bench and sent to watch the balance of the match from the stands.

In the 61st minute Sundowns were awarded yet another penalty when Innocent Mhlambi was yellow carded and this time it gave leading goalscorer Surprise Moriri an easy chance to net his 10th goal of the season.

In the 75th minute Sundowns increased their lead courtesy of Sandile Ndlovu.

The Brazilians are certainly on a goal-scoring spree after having beaten Black Leopards 5-1 last week.
