Alonso boost for Liverpool

London - Liverpool received a boost for
Saturday's FA Cup final against West Ham United when a scan
revealed on Monday that midfielder Xabi Alonso had not suffered
any serious ankle damage.
The Spaniard was carried off on a stretcher during
Liverpool's 3-1 victory at Portsmouth on the last day of the
Premier League season on Sunday.
"A scan this morning has confirmed that Xabi has an ankle
ligament sprain," a club spokesperson said.
"He'll now receive intensive treatment at Melwood and we are
hopeful he will be available for the FA Cup Final on Saturday."
