Bafana seek tougher friendlies
17/10/2006 08:15 - (SA)
Johannesburg - South African Football Association chief executive officer Raymond Hack says he has begun negotiations for at least two high profile friendlies next year after the call by incoming coach Carlos Alberto Parreira for top class fixtures for Bafana Bafana.
Parreira said he wanted the national side to pit their strength against some of the world's top teams to measure their ability to be a force at the 2010 World Cup finals.
He said South Africa should not be scared to take on the likes of Argentina, Brazil, Italy and England if they could organise the matches.
Hack says he has "been talking to people about prospective opponents" for next year.
Parreira will start his job with an African Nations Cup match against Chad in March but will hold a training camp in early February.
The first opportunity for a high profile friendly for South Africa will be in August next year, according to the Fifa calendar.
