  • Johannesburg - Soccer World Cup 2010 Local Organising Committee CEO, Danny Jordaan, has offered a "profound apology" to the media after journalists, including numerous representatives of the international press and television, waited for an hour for a conference that never happened.

On Tuesday, journalists decided to walk out after Jordaan and the LOC 2010 Board members failed to pitch for the conference at the scheduled time.

"I want to apologise to the press and I understand some of their frustrations," he said.

The delay raised eyebrows, with some newspapers even predicting that there was a possible crisis looming within the LOC.

However, Jordaan moved swiftly to allay the fears without offering a full explanation for the delay.

"This was nothing unusual. We have heard of meetings running for longer than the time scheduled; it has happened at Fifa, it has happened within Caf and so this was nothing unusual. I don't really understand what the fuss is all about," Jordaan added.
