Pretoria - Black people showed the most optimism when asked about South Africa's readiness to host the 2010 Soccer World Cup compared to white people, a study by TNS Research Surveys has found.
About 69% of black people felt that the country would be ready to host the soccer event compared to 45% of white people.
Coloureds and Indians fared at 57% and 52% respectively.
Overall, the study found that 63% of South Africans felt that the country would be ready.
Older people were also less positive, 52% of those aged 60 and more felt "we will be ready" compared to 64% of those aged 34 or less.
The survey involved a sample of 2 000 people aged 18 years or older in seven metropolitan areas.
The study has a margin of error of under 2.5% for the percentage results quoted.
