Fifa confirm 'Madiba squads'

  • Berne - Fifa have unveiled the full list of players taking part in next week's charity match in honour of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

    Pele, Ruud Gullit and French World Cup winner Christian Karembeu head the line-up for the Rest of the World team, most of whom are retired.

    Pele, the world's greatest ever player who retired in 1977 but still looks in remarkably good shape at 66, is expected to make a cameo appearance in the match.

    Three-time African Player of the Year Samuel Eto'o and former Fifa World Player of the Year George Weah are among the 22 players selected to represent Africa, whose squad, like the Rest of the World's is mainly comprised of former stars.

    The game is due to be held at Cape Town's Newlands Stadium on July 18, Mandela's 89th birthday, with proceeds going to local charities.

    The squads named by Fifa are:

    Rest of the World:

    Goalkeeper: Andoni Zubizaretta

    Defenders: Zoubaier Baya, Christian Karembeu, Gary Mabbutt, Patrick M'Boma, Santos Muntubile, Lucas Radebe

    Midfielders/Forwards: Ali Daei, Emilio Butragueno, Stephane Chapuisat, Youssouf Fofana, Julen Guerrero, Ruud Gullit, Joo Sung Kim, Leonardo, Pele, Fernando Redondo, Wynton Rufer, Ivan Zamorano

    Coaches: Roy Hodgson, Claude Le Roy

    Africa:

    Goalkeepers: Ezaki Badou, Jacques Songo'o

    Defenders: Owen Augustine Eguavoen, Mark Fish, Stephen Keshi, Doctor Khumalo, David Obua, Stephen Tataw, Okechukwu Uche.

    Midfielders/Forwards: Abedi Pele, Daniel Amokachi, Kalusha Bwalya, Samuel Eto'o, Hossam Hassan, Lomana Lualua, Rabah Madjer, Pedro Mantorras, Phil Masinga, Francois Oman Biyik, Dennis Oliech, Samson Siasia, George Weah
