  • London - Carlos Tevez will have a medical at Manchester United next Wednesday with a view to his joining the English champions, agent Kia Joorabchian said on Thursday.

"Carlos will fly to Britain for a medical at Manchester United on Wednesday and hopefully we'll get the administrative issues sorted next week," Joorabchian told Sky Sports News.

Tevez is on Copa America duty with Argentina in Venezuela until Sunday's final against Brazil.

"I spoke to Manchester United, they are quite confident they can have him registered by the next week," Joorabchian said.

"We are confident we've got our player... but we want (the transfer) done cleanly," said United manager Alex Ferguson, also interviewed by Sky on Thursday.

A transfer of the 23-year-old striker from West Ham United is mired in red tape following his controversial move from Brazilian side Corinthians to the London club last August.

West Ham chairperson Eggert Magnusson said last week there was no agreement from his club to release Tevez.

Joorabchian, who was involved in Tevez's move from Boca Juniors to Corinthians in 2005, refused to be drawn into a discussion of the true ownership of Tevez's transfer rights.

"We are keeping out of that particular situation," he said.
