Fifa to rule on Tevez transfer
23/07/2007 19:46 - (SA)
Paris - World football's governing body Fifa on Monday met with representatives of the Football Association (FA) and the Premier League to discuss the transfer of Argentina striker Carlos Tevez from West Ham to Manchester United.
Following a meeting that lasted just over two-and-a-half hours, Fifa announced that a decision would be delivered during the week.
Last week both Premiership clubs requested Fifa intervene in the ongoing transfer dispute.
Tevez, who flew into Manchester to undergo a medical last Tuesday only for West Ham to block permission, continues to be the subject of a tug-of-war between West Ham and Kia Joorabshian's Media Sports Investments group, which holds the player's economic rights and claims they are therfore entitled to any transfer fee.
English football federation rules stipulate that the transfer sum for a player can only be paid between clubs and not to a third party.
