  • Man United on a goal spree
  • Kiev, Ukraine - Wayne Rooney scored his seventh goal in six games, helping Manchester United beat Dynamo Kiev 4-2 on Tuesday in the Champions League.

Rooney, who has scored two goals for England and the other five for United, tapped in a pass from Wes Brown in the 18th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals, one in each half, and Rio Ferdinand added the other for the Premier League champions. Diego Rincon and Ismael Bangoura scored for Dynamo.

United stayed in first place in Group F with a perfect nine points, while Dynamo remained last with zero.

Ferdinand gave United the lead in the 10th minute by heading in a free kick from Ryan Giggs. The goal was Ferdinand's first in the Champions League for United.

A minute after Rooney's goal, both the United striker and Carlos Tevez had a chance to add a third but Ronaldo's pass across the front of goal was out of their reach.

Rincon scored in the 34th by heading in a corner from Carlos Correa. Ronaldo tried to clear the ball off the line but he only managed to deflect it into the net.

    From the penalty spot

Giggs set up Ronaldo for the third goal in the 41st. He sent in a cross from the left that the Portugal winger easily headed into the net.

Ronaldo's second goal came from the penalty spot in the 68th. Dynamo defender Goran Gavrancic was called for the foul after knocking a cross from Tevez out with his right arm.

Bangoura scored another for the hosts in the 78th. The Guinea international scored with a hard shot from outside the area.

A minute after the goal, United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was replaced by Tomasz Kuszczak.

John O'Shea had a chance to score another for United in the 40th but his soft shot was saved by Dynamo goalkeeper Olexandr Shovkovskiy.

Both teams had good chances early in the second half. United midfielder Anderson hot the post in the 50th, and Rincon sent a long header wide in the 53rd.

United have scored 12 goals in their last three matches. The English champions have conceded only six goals in 14 games this season.
