Johannesburg - The FNB Stadium which is under construction, will host the first and final game of the 2010 Fifa World Cup, is ahead of schedule according to senior site manager Corne Esterhuizen of Grinaker LTA.
"The north, south and east stands are six months ahead of schedule and will most definitely be completed before the deadline," said Esterhuizen.
The stadium is scheduled to host the 2009 Confederations Cup tournament in which Brazil, World Champs Italy and 2010 hosts South Africa will compete in.
"Construction is going smoothly, we've had no problems with the workforce, the delivery of goods or any other delays.
"We have a very good managerial team and we're coping well with the work. I am confident the stadium will be complete by March or April 2009," he said.
The first Fifa World Cup game is scheduled to kick off on June 11, 2010.
