2010: Blackmarket trade concern
01/11/2007 12:08 - (SA)
Local Organising Committee CEO Danny Jordaan has warned that government might be required to pass legislation making fraudulent sales of 2010 World Cup tickets a criminal offence.
Speaking at a First National Bank function to launch a competition which enables thousands of people to win tickets for the tournament, Jordaan said the blackmarket trade was a major concern.
We cannot have a situation whereby people buy tickets and then resell them for eight times their normal value, he said. A total of 16 000 World Cup tickets have been made through official sponsor FNB.
The sponsorship entitles the bank to a package of rights and benefits that include access to match tickets to the tournament as well as to the Confederations Cup in 2009.
