  • Cape Town - The Ajax Cape Town technical staff has hailed the call up of three of the team?s players to the Bafana Bafana squad that will travel to Ghana, saying that the fact that the club provided the highest number of players to the national side underlines the quality in its ranks and is testimony that the Cape Town club has come of age since its formation eight years ago.

With three players in the national side, the Urban Warriors has the biggest representation when coach Carlos Alberto Parreira on Thursday named his squad for next month African Nations Cup, scheduled for Ghana.

Deadly striker Thembinkosi "Terror" Fanteni, Bryce Moon and previously underrated defender Brett Evans were rewarded for their consistency by being included in the 23-man squad.

"The fact that we provided the highest number of players to the Bafana squad means that the technical team and the players are all doing well.

"It should be put into consideration that in the national team's match against Lesotho, we had five players in that team.

"It is encouraging that the players" good work recently that led to their selection of the players did not go unnoticed," says assistant coach Wilfred Mugeyi.

He adds that the players should acquit themselves well at the biennial tournament to enhance Ajax's profile in the continent.

"It is good for the club that three of our boys were selected as it will enable them to put Ajax Cape Town on the international map," says the former Zimbabwe international striker who campaigned at the same tournament in 2004 in his country's maiden appearance.

The Cape Town-based outfit has been the toast of the on-going League campaign as it chases its first ever League championship.

Fanteni, Moon and Evans have been pivotal in the team's impressive run in the opening half of the 2007/08 season.
