Johannesburg - Safa has awarded its national executive committee and members of the regional executive with a R2.5m "token of appreciation" payment each.
This emerged when Safa concluded their Special General Meeting at the Southern Sun at the OR Tambo International Airport at the weekend.
The meeting focused on constitutional amendments, honorariums for Safa National and Regional executive committee members, and a progress report on the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
In a meeting chaired by Safa vice-president Mohamed Mubarak, the Safa membership endorsed recommendations by a four-man committee (Danny Jordaan (convenor); David Maans; Vincent Allie and Letima Mogorosi, who were tasked with evaluating contributions of the Safa regional and executive committee members for a limited period and of the Safa NEC in the period 2000-2004.
In terms of the recommendation, NEC members will be awarded a once-off full and final payment of R2.5 million to be divided equally, the beneficiaries will exclude Safa president Molefi Oliphant, vice-president Irvin Khoza and the CEO of the 2010 Bid Committee Danny Jordaan.
Regional Executive members will also receive R2.5 million as a token of appreciation for the hard work they discharged in the 52 regions of Safa.
Constitutional Amendments were also endorsed to be in line with the Fifa Constitution, and to regularize other changes within the Association.
The membership also welcomed the 2010 Fifa World Cup status report from the Local Organising Committee and highlighted the importance of accelerating legacy projects that will benefit football in the Safa regions.
Safa CEO Raymond Hack says he is happy with the spirit and the outcome of the Special General Meeting.
"We had a successful year as the Association, and to end 2007 with consensus as a football family on many issues; it really sets the right tone for the coming season," he added.
