Parreira on compassionate leave
21/02/2008 08:02 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira, hurriedly left for Brazil on Wednesday night to attend to family emergencies, the South African Football Association (Safa) chief executive officer Raymond Hack, said on Thursday.
Hack said Parreira had been granted compassionate leave as his wife was admitted to hospital and scheduled to undergo emergency surgery. "It is only prudent for the Association to support the family during these trying times," said Hack.
In Parreira's absence coaching assistants Jairo Leal, Pitso Mosimane and Fransisco Gonzalez, will continue with the team's training programme that includes monitoring players and preparing for future matches.
