Another stalemate for Chiefs

Pretoria - Kaizer Chiefs played out yet another stalemate in the Absa Premiership when they were held to a goalless draw by Platinum Stars at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday night.
The draw is Amakhosi's 12th of the season in 21 league matches, a result that puts further pressure on coach Muhsin Ertugral.
Chiefs started brightly, as David Obua and Ditheko Mototo combined down the left, with the former shooting just over the crossbar in the third minute.
Mabhuti Khenyeza looked sharp up front for the hosts and in the 14th minute he cut inside from the right channel and hit a left footed shot just wide of Tapuwa Kapini's right hand upright.
Two minutes later Stars created their first scoring opportunity with a slick counter attack, but Thabiso Monareng shot wide of goal when a pass across the penalty area may have led to the visitors opening the scoring.
Amakhosi created the best chance of the first half in the 36th minute when Khenyeza picked out David Mathebula with a cross, but the 24-year-old midfielder could only direct his header straight at Kapini.
Six minutes after the break, Itumeleng Khune was forced to make a fine diving save from Edward Williams' 20m drive that looked destined for the back of the net.
On the hour mark, Stars striker Robinson Renteria showed his strength and speed to get to the byline but his cutback failed to find any teammates in the centre of the 18-yard area.
Khenyeza had half an opening in the 68th minute after a clever pass by substitute Michael Nkambule, but defender George Mofokeng did well to come across and block the striker's shot at the last second.
In the 85th minute Koketso Mmotong did well to hold off a couple of Chiefs defenders and surge down the right of the penalty area, but Khune dived at the winger's feet to snuff out the danger.
And Khune did well again deep into injury time to catch another powerful shot from Williams and ensure his side picked up a point.
